Sea, surf, Stippy Stappy cottages, sausage rolls… St Agnes is famous for a lot of things, and it’s one of the loveliest villages on the North Cornwall coast 

St Agnes is a bustling coastal community about ten miles along the coast from Newquay and a similar distance from Truro. The long village winds downwards through a valley towards Trevaunance Cove, from the pretty houses around the top of the village and Rosemundy through Churchtown and down gently wooded Quay Road to the beach. 

The beautiful St Agnes Heritage Coast is dotted with the remains of old tin mines, the evocative ruins of engine houses stand starkly on the clifftops. However, tin and copper mining goes back way further than the “Poldark” era mines here, with remains of prehistoric industry among the gorse and heather of the coastal heathland. 

Today’s St Agnes is a popular surfing spot, visitor destination and is developing a vibrant food and drink scene. It is also home to outdoor and surfwear brand Finisterre (stock up at their store and HQ at Wheal Kitty Workshops). Noticeably, St Agnes is still very much a community, giving it a friendly feel and year-round appeal. 

It is an easy drive to St Agnes village from the A30. Simply take the St Agnes exit at the Chiverton Cross roundabout (the west side of Truro), and you will be in the village within minutes.
